Decline in the export of electromechanical products in China but the growth potential

November 2008, China's export of electromechanical products has been
negative growth for three consecutive months, three months of exports
fell 4.8%, 8.2% and 20.9% for 20 years has not been. Chinese import and
export trade accounted for half of the country's "fist product"
experienced a tremendous impact.
Customs statistics show that in January 2009 Electrical
Products Import and Export of China's 75.34 billion U.S. dollars, up
28.4 percent decline in exports 49.14 billion U.S. dollars, down 20.9
percent, accounting for the proportion of national exports was 54.3%.
The year 2008, China's export of electromechanical products 822.9
billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 117.3 percent, accounting for 57.6
percent of foreign trade, the contribution of foreign trade growth rate
of 57%.
Mechanical and electrical products exports in January fell
sharply with the Chinese New Year vacation factors, mechanical and
electrical products, especially IT products significantly faster rate
of decline in general merchandise, that the United States, Europe,
Japan and other developed economies suffered by the buyer after the
financial crisis, consumer confidence and purchasing power damage. At
the same time, China's emerging market and developing countries
increased exports also increase the difficulty.
Ministry of Commerce expects the first half of 2009 export of
electromechanical products would appear more substantial negative
growth. Although the global financial crisis caused by mechanical and
electrical products of the sharp contraction in external demand, but
such products are still the most growth potential of Chinese
merchandise. Chinese because of the original production are mostly
low-end products, the demand for more rigid, so with Japan, Korea and
other places of production compared to high-end mechanical and
electrical products, the impact is relatively small, particularly the
implementation of current domestic home appliances to the countryside
policy , in order to provide a much larger room for maneuver.
According to WTO statistics, in 2008, China's machinery and
electronic products in the United States, Japan and other major market
share steadily improve, exports decline in market share but did not
fall but rise, indicating that Chinese mechanical and electrical
products with strong competitiveness and development potential. In
addition, Africa, Asia and other developing countries and emerging
markets of China is still a larger demand for mechanical and electrical
products, one of China's electrical equipment, communications
equipment, transport equipment and other infrastructure needs huge
equipment.
Cost-effective products in the consumer squeeze it easier for
consumers to become the first choice, but because of different
enterprises in the international division of labor in the status of the
industrial chain length, as well as their own R & D, manufacturing,
marketing ability is different from the financial crisis and the bear
exist significant differences in risk. At present, engaged in
manufacturing low-end aspect of the "shop-type" enterprise by the
largest impact, followed by research and innovation ability, lack of
own brand and marketing network of manufacturing enterprises, and with
our own brand, R & D capability and initial set up international
marketing network marketing-oriented enterprises are relatively small
impact.
From the foreign trade development of the long term, must be
of the pressure as a driving force to accelerate the restructuring,
independent innovation, China's export of electromechanical products
achieve development of a fundamental change.
